‘You’re reading a review of LIVE 34.’

LWMJ -- Posts on frequently , every so often -- LWMJ -- broadcasting to Earth all day, every day -- LWMJ -- Rarely updated every so often of a blue moon -- LWMJ -- sport, weather, business, local news, interplanetary affairs -- LWMJ -- Text, independent, biased, comprehensive -- LWMJ -- all weird, all day, every day -- LWMJ.’

Live 34 is a political mystery/thriller told from the perspective of an independent radio news show of the same name. It features hallmarks of modern and past news broadcasts and without giving too much away, that includes blatant censorship and the uncanny sense of edited contexts.

The story unfolds as if someone is merely tuning into the station every other day, during the events leading up to a Major election. So what did i think of it?

Well honestly I thought it was pretty brilliant, its not all together clear as of the publication of this review but i didn't really jive with the Seventh Doctor's Main Range until The Harvest, which admittedly may make my enjoyment of such an odd and thrilling audio suxh as this biased. But thats what reviews are, theyre biased as all hell.

If i had any BIG issues it'd probably be the frequent replaying of the intro to the show and a rather long technical difficulties bleep around the end of the 4th part. It also feels a bit of a cop out how the story ends in a whodunnit/heist movie explanation.

But overall I wouldn't say these things really kill the drama for me, and i was happy to listen to it in multiple parts.
Perhaps the biggest thing i can say for this audio is thusfar the story is a timeless one, despite being a political story based with future colonies. All the throughlines are there. The dirtiest aspects of humanity then, now and in the future, put on display.

UPDATE: This seriously dark examination was apparently not without consequences as despite my own lack of care due to cynicism about reality being much worse, this story allegedly almost lost Big Finish the Doctor Who License for its themes. I wouldn't say it gets even remotely as bad as torchwood in that respect however.

In conclusion, I really love when stories in a franchise go weird, you know me. So having an entire story told through news reports is definitely A++ levels of weird.

Give it a go, You won't be disappointed!
